The Desert Theatre League has Conferred its 2023 Desert Star Awards

The Desert Theatre League (DTL) held its annual awards banquet on Sunday, October 1 st , during which it announced its Desert Star Awards in the Coachella Valley and High Desert. Eligible productions were those that took place during the 2022-2023 theatrical season.

In addition, DTL granted three special awards, the Sidney Harmon Award (for people who served the theatre on-stage and off), the Michael Grossman Award, and the Bill Kuhlman Award (for excellence behind the scenes), to Shawn Abramowitz, Lou Galvan, and Lynda Shaeps, respectively. It also awarded a scholarship to high school student Ben Van Dijk, who hopes to attend a college theatre program in New York City. According to its web site, www.DesertTheatreLeague.org, DTL is a non-profit corporation formed to support and cultivate theatre in the local area. Its thirty-four Producing Members consist of theatre companies (professional and non-professional), educational theatres, and dance companies. Individual Members, of whom there are now thirty-eight, include performers and others who wish to support theatrical endeavors.
